Simon is a gorgeous, blind, 3 year old, black male Great Dane. He came to us originally in horrible condition due to severe neglect and cruelty, weighing only 87 lbs upon arrival. He also had a badly broken tail, open sores, was very anemic and heartworm positive. He settled into his foster home quickly, never had an accident in the house and is now crate trained as well. Simon knows “step” for stairs, “bump” for when he is approaching something that he will hit, and “sit” and “wait”. He is undergoing treatment for heartworm, and when that is done he will have surgery in the near future for his broken tail, neuter and gastropexy. He has gained almost 40 pounds since he came in and only has about 10 to go! Simon looks more handsome every day and is a joy to have around the house. He is very content to rest comfortably near you. He enjoys a daily walk on his gentle leader for exercise and loves rides in the car. Simon loves people and does well with other mellow, submissive dogs of all sizes, but would prefer a home with no young children. This big strong boy is incredibly forgiving and shows great promise. He deserves a very special family who will show him what love is all about!
